Wrath Fever
Wrath Fever is a disease of the spirit, though it affects the body and the mind as well. brought on by great feelings of anger while afflicted by Corruption, the fever burns the victim from within, but spurs them to self-destructive rage. the victim takes 1d4 points of Fire damage every day at sunrise and again at sunset. they also take 1d4 points of Charm damage and 1d4 points of Insight damage every day at sunrise.
the victim also becomes irrationally irritable and angry. within 1d3 days of first contracting the disease, the victim only shows mild grumpiness and irritability. but by the first week they are already prone to violent outbursts. it takes a Spiritual Saving throw at this point after any even mildly inconveniencing situation to not attempt to destroy the nearest object or attack the nearest enemy. this could even be the victim's own weapon or other held item.
after 10 days, the rage increases in severity, until it seems the victim can no longer express any emotion besides anger. at this stage, the victim must make a Spiritual saving throw every round of combat, or every 10 minutes outside of combat, or attack the nearest creature be they friend or foe. even on a successful save, the victim yells and demeans any who hold their attention. every day after that, the victim must make a Spiritual Save or else their alignment changes to Chaotic Evil for as long as the fever lasts. even after recovering from the fever, if they had their alignment change as a result of it, they must Atone to restore any class features, Talents, spells, or other abilities lost as a result.
to recover from Wrath Fever, a creature must be treated with the Heal skill every day (DC15 plus the number of Corruption Points they have) as well as receive a Soothe Spell or similar miracle every day. at the end of each day, the creature makes both a Physical and Spiritual Save. if all of these conditions are met, and the creature succeeds at both saves 3 days in a row, the disease stops progressing on the following morning, and they can begin recovering.
when the fever passes, the character is calm, but remains exhausted for 3d4 days before any rest will begin to heal the exhaustion. after this point, all conditions heal as normally.
Wrath Fever is a particularly dangerous disease to contract. not only is its mode of contraction perilous to begin with, being contracted through affliction by Corruption, but also its effects both cause the victim to put themselves in more danger and to push away or potentially harm their only source of healing. indeed, those afflicted with Wrath Fever often sunder all relationships with any who care for them, becoming isolated and even more vulnerable, especially when nobody around them understands what has happened to them. many who suffer from the fever die because of it's symptoms.
demons delight in spreading Wrath Fever, and do so whenever possible. it is not difficult for them to do so, either. it is in the nature of demons to create the circumstances to spread Wrath Fever, even when it isn't something they are actively trying to do. and when it is their intended goal, it is almost impossible for them to fail at it. after all, their most instinctual actions and their very presence causes both Corruption and anguish.
but Wrath Fever is still also possible to spread by the actions of mortals as well. and many a haunted locale or lair of wicked mages or cultists or even den of murderers can easily become ground zero of a plague of Wrath Fever.
