Bishop of Harvest and Famine, Basemet

Bishop of Harvest and Famine, Basemet

Basemet, the Bishop of Harvest and Famine stands before you. She looks down upon you with an almost disgusted look on her mostly covered face.

Physical Description

General Physical Condition

A red-skinned orc of immense stature, her muscular frame exudes a raw, primal power that mirrors the forces of nature she commands. Her crimson skin is rough and weathered like ancient bark, with vines, flowers, and crops constantly sprouting and wilting from her body, creating a perpetual cycle of life and decay. Her neck bears a gruesome wound: a gaping slit throat that never fully heals, yet drips with golden sap-like liquid instead of blood, feeding the plants that grow from her. The robe she wears is long and flowing, stitched from coarse, burlap-like fabric and dyed a deep black, with green and gold accents symbolizing fertility and famine. The hem is frayed and dirt-streaked, often tangled with roots and trailing moss, making it seem as if she is part of the earth itself. Beneath the black veil hiding her face, faint golden light seeps through, adding an eerie contrast to her fearsome and tragic visage.

Body Features

Her skin is a deep, earthy red, rough and cracked in places, like the parched soil of a drought-stricken land. From these cracks, plants emerge—tiny green shoots, wildflowers, and even stalks of grain—constantly growing, withering, and falling away in a never-ending cycle. Some plants cling to her arms and shoulders like moss, while others coil around her legs like creeping vines. Bugs and pollinators of all kinds swarm around her, endulging in the unnatural feast. Her hands are rough and calloused, with dirt perpetually embedded beneath her nails. They are adorned with golden rings that appear to grow from her fingers like twisted branches, symbolizing both the bounty and the pain she delivers. She is immense and commanding, her powerful frame exuding strength. Despite her imposing figure, her posture carries the weight of centuries, as if burdened by the endless cycles of nature she has overseen.

Facial Features

Two massive, curved tusks rise from her lower jaw, their surfaces etched with intricate carvings resembling spiraling vines and waves of grain. The tusks are cracked and weathered, as though shaped by centuries of wear, yet they gleam faintly with a golden-green sheen, as if pulsing with the life force of her domain. Tiny flowers sometimes bloom along the carvings, only to wither and fall moments later. Basemet’s eyes are pools of molten gold, glowing softly with an inner light that shifts with her emotions. When she is calm, they radiate warmth and promise, but in anger or sorrow, they burn like the sun over a scorched field. Her lips are full but cracked, with a dark, weathered texture that occasionally oozes sap-like liquid, mirroring the wound in her throat. Despite this, her smile—rare as it is—carries both the promise of renewal and the threat of ruin. Her nose is wide and flat, with strong, pronounced brows that frame her eyes like the arches of ancient stone gates. These features give her a perpetually fierce and determined expression, though they soften in moments of reflection or sorrow.

Physical quirks

While her clothing and body is clearly meant to be almost regal in stature, similar to the other bishops, Basemet is covered in a variety of burns and singes from her followers and her practices to suppress her abilities of growth.

Special abilities

Basemet commands the natural cycles of life, able to cause plants to flourish in mere moments, creating lush fields and blooming forests wherever she wills. Yet with the same breath, she can wither entire landscapes, turning fertile fields into barren wastelands and reducing verdant growth to ash and rot.    Plants sprout from her skin and footsteps, growing with vibrant vitality only to wither and crumble moments later. These bursts of life can serve as shields, obstacles, or weapons, depending on her intent, as vines and roots lash out or flowers release choking pollen into the air.    The golden sap that drips from her slit throat and cracked lips carries immense power. It can heal grievous wounds and restore vitality when given freely, but if bestowed with ill intent, it spreads sickness, rots flesh, or saps strength from those it touches.   Basemet radiates an oppressive energy that saps the hope from those in her presence, making them feel the weight of famine and despair. For those under her favor, however, this aura brings calm and reassurance, as if standing in the embrace of a bountiful harvest.

Apparel & Accessories

Her long black robe flows like a river of shadow, adorned with embroidered patterns of twisting vines, stalks of wheat, and barren branches in green and gold thread. The fabric is heavy and textured, like burlap or woven moss, and its hem is perpetually damp and tangled with mud, roots, and fallen leaves. The robe seems alive, shifting slightly as if responding to her mood, with tiny shoots sprouting along its edges before crumbling into ash. A black veil shrouds her face, hiding all but the glowing golden light of her eyes and the sharp curve of her tusks. The veil is translucent enough to suggest her features beneath, giving her an ethereal, ghostly presence. It is trimmed with faintly glowing gold thread, which flickers like dying embers when she moves. Around her neck hangs a pendant made of a single, withered seed encased in a translucent amber-like resin. The seed pulses faintly, as though alive, symbolizing the fragile balance between fertility and decay.

Basemet, the Bishop of Plentiful Harvest and Starvation, is a towering red-skinned orc with a body built like the very earth she commands—powerful, weathered, and unyielding. Her crimson skin is etched with deep, tribal scars and glowing golden tattoos that pulse with the rhythm of the seasons, representing both abundance and barrenness.
