Duskwing

Duskwing is an Awakened blackbird who has become a paladin of Haru. He is awkward, frail, and doesn't know what's going on. He is, however, full of good intent and very skilled at blending in with the background.   Duskwing was awakened blackbird, given sentience magically by a powerful druid obsessed with uncovering hidden divine wisdom. The druid seemed to think that certain animals contained inherent divine wisdom or knowledge, but quickly decided that this clumsy and awkward blackbird wasn't one of them. The druid locked Duskwing away with the other failed sentient animals, as failed experiments to be forgotten. The God Haru eventually discovered the druid's experiments and was displeased. Haru set the sentient animals free and worked to find them good homes and communities to build real lives in. Duskwing was traumatized by his mistreatment and didn't get along well with either humans or birds - but he wanted to embody the kind of positive change Haru had shown him. He swore a paladin's oaths and became Duskwing, mercy of the hidden sun.    Duskwing spent years innocuously saving lives - he gave second chances indiscriminately, coming down from the sky to Lay On Wings for those wounded and dying he saw from above. He quickly learned that he was bad at violence and had a weak body; his healing was also best used in small amounts to tactically save lives.    Eventually, Haru gave Duskwing an important assignment: to shadow God Squad and save them if they were at death's door. Duskwing evaded hurricanes, warlocks, monsters, and spells, and was innocuous enough to be ignored by Gods and Apocalypses alike. Eventually, Duskwing was found by the Gods when he saved the life of Lady Malwa Akuzir after the @Kren
