Chemical Weapons

In ancient days, when Octopeople and land species fought in the seas of Sonev, the boat-faring landfolk began to drop smothering dirt and other weapons on the reefs of the ocean. In response, The Masked One taught the peoples of the ocean how to create poison gas to launch at the landfolk.    To this day, chemical weapons are one of the most treasured and dangerous tools of Octopeople around the world. Through arcane alchemy and common ocean materials, reefgoers can produce canisters of chlorine or mustard gas that can blind, suffocate, and painfully kill air-breathers.   While most chemical weapons are produced underwater in reefs, some land-folk have been taught how to produce these as well. They often still require reef support for harvesting materials, but the metal tools and technologies of the land can allow for faster and more efficient production.    Many kingdoms and armies have very limited chemical weapons access; only the richest or most aquatically-connected land armies can reliably access relevant amounts of poison gas.
