The Emergence began with the lucky discovery of a drug mutating DNA and unlocking a superpower in its user.
It all began during the late 20th century, during the second part of the 70s with the pharmaceutical company Genelix and their researches into gene therapy. On a fluke, they created an experimental drug that mutated DNA, unlocking in them what scientists called a Singularity, a power that could be anything from breathing fire to having sticky soles. They managed to reproduce the fluke and made a drug called enkioxan out of it. With the lack of regulations and the promise of gaining superpowers, even with no knowledge of longterm possible side-effects, enkioxan was a worldwide success with millions of people trying their luck, launching what would later be called the First-wave of the Emergence.
