Seɪhsâng | Moon Shadow

Gensang magic combatant. A very active and elite role; Seɪhsâng are historically the most pivotal individuals in Gensang conflicts.

Accoutrements & Equipment

Uniform

Seɪhsâng have very distinctive uniforms. Each one is visually unique, as all but the translucent underskirt (and boots) are made by rethi, who only do custom pieces. Most Seɪhsâng have some of their tattoos incorporated into the patterning, alongside the traditional octopus imagery. It's important to note that despite symmetry being highly praised by Gensang, these uniforms are always decorated extremely asymmetrically. The colors are always limited to oranges, reds, and purples, as they're meant to blend with the Gensang's skin to some degree (all colors are encorporated, so regardless of the Gensang in question's coloration, the uniform will blend with both their skin/hair and the skin/hair of their comrades).

The undershirt is tighter-fitting with loose arms, and closes with three knot buttons from the neck to the chest. The rest of the shirt is held closed by the pant's waistband. The waistband is decoratively woven (lots of texture), and ties both above and below the tail in the back. The pants are not sewn in the leg, but wrap around. They hang loose at the upper calf, and so are bound with colored cloth bandages to keep them closed and to cover the rest of the leg. The pants tend to be one solid color, while the undershirt is heavily decorated. The boots are leather, with furry insides.

The translucent skirt is always a solid color, and it is extremely aggressively pleated in the waist, so the maximum circumference of the skirt is ~ 10ft, and does not restrict movement. Worn over that is a long robe(?), with extremely wide sleeves and four thinner, separated "skirt" panels. The robe is held closed by a wide belt, and the neckline is very deep, not coming together until the belt. The decoration level varies heavily, but the inner edge (i.e. the neckline and inside edges of the front skirt panels) and sleeve hems are always the same color as the design. The belt may or may not be decorative.

The last pieces are somewhat variable. Older traditional Seɪhsâng uniforms had highly decorated veils that extend to the ground, but they were rather unwieldy, and now only worn during festivals. The newer* versions have the true veil end at the thighs, and suspend a matching cloth from the belt to give the illusion that of the mask extending to the floor. They are always worn outside of active combat, but Gensang fighting alongside non-Gensang must also wear them during active combat, as to avoid unnerving/disturbing/frightening their comrades. Seɪhsâng often wear jewelry on their antlers-- made of leather or cloth and wooden or clay beads during combat, and of metal during festivals.

The amount of armor worn is inversely related to experience: less experienced Seɪhsâng wear nearly full armor (both under and over actual uniform), more experienced Seɪhsâng wear a few pieces of armor, and extremely experienced Seɪhsâng wear no armor. Additionally, the armor cannot be metal-- especially if the individual specializes in electricity/lightning or fire magic, or uses pure magic channeling. Magic and metal don't play nice (unless it's earth/metal magic).

War Paint

There are a few variations (mostly stemming from everyone applying it themselves), but the design typically consists of a thicker line from forehead to chin, a thick band over the eyes, triangles along the edge of face (from forehead to end of jaw) pointing in, covered ears, and thin vertical lines from the hairline to the end of the face. Usually a portion of the antlers are also panted.

Colors have associated meanings. [that i haven't sorted through entirely yet.]
