Society of the Sphinx
The Society of the Sphinx is a secret society in Exum that worships the Faeroahs and the Sphinxes. They were founded by the children of the First Griot that didn't agree that those who weren't of the bloodline of the their father should become Griots. It is believed their support network comes the families of those that were aligned with the Faeroahs and those that fought to help hide the Sphinxes from their new emperor and his Pillars who were hunting them down.
Members of the society are considered "Dishonored."
In the Northern Pillar the population is mostly governed by a code of laws that are similar to those that were imposed on them by the Faeroahs. While the society looks at the Faeroahs and Sphinxes as gods they are also rumored to research and covet the sciences of the Faeroahs and Sphinxes.

History
The Society of the Sphinx is believed to have started in the Northern Pillar, who are mostly migrants from the region of Salted Plains where the Faeroah capital of Basana . They are said to wear mask during meetings and speak the spirit-possession language, those that have heard it say it is the language of the Faeroahs, being that it sounds like a chorus of people speaking at one time. The society and its members have either lead or paid for numerous expeditions into the Salted Plains in an attempt to get to Basana and loot the city of any and all artifacts or knoledge they can get, but all are believed to have failed, due to no one ever returning.
