Shangua

Shangua is the Trickster Orishas and is also known as the Swallower of Curses as the people of Exum seem to always curse his name when they've been duped. He is believed to be the half-brother of Jidè, the Orisha of Death. He is seen as a messenger of the pantheon as most priests pray to him to convey a message to another Orisha, which in many cases he conveys in a way that gets misconstrued.
Pray? You want me Pray?! What pray tell has prayer ever gotten you, priest? As long as the Shangua is the intermediary between us and the Orishas we are doomed? You want me to pray for all the money in the world? For what so there can be a new currency that comes along and render mine worthless? You want me to pray for wealth then? So I can live my life poor to the last day, just to be granted the wealth I asked, for a young man, on my death bed? Ha! Shangua is the curser of prayers and every time he pulls his tricks on us we curse his name and he swallows those curses day after day.
— Fela, the Unfaithful
Other than being a trickster, Shangua is also known as the Protector of the Roads and travelers. Guiding those that take the Three Noble Roads down the path that's been laid out for them. He is also seen as somewhat as a protector of travelers. Most cites place a temple or shrine by their gates where travelers can place a gift to him either thanking him for not hindering their travel or a bribe of sorts not to delay them as they head to their next destination.
He's the reason the Road of Kings has yet to been paved!
— Fella the Unfaithful
The people of Exum avoid saying his name as to not draw his attention to their endeavors.
