Daemons
A sapient species of animalistic humanoids. They tend to possess superior strength and senses than humans, to varying degrees depending on their sub-species; greater-daemons, lesser-daemons (pictured), and demi-daemons. Their mental processes are only slightly lacking if not equal to an average humans', with numerous languages and dialects based on the daemon's geographical origin.
Basic Information
Anatomy
In general, daemon anatomy depends on the animal they take on, including but not limited to felines, canines, caprinae, cervidae, avians, and most other common forms of mammalia.
-Greater-daemons: With an average height at about 6'6, the greater variety tend to exhibit more animalistic traits to their cousins, with thicker coats of fur, longer muzzles, and strength proportional to their size.
-Lesser-daemons: Much closer to the average human's physique with relatively short fur and human-like heads of hair. Their muzzles rarely extend past the average nose's horizontal extension.
-Demi-daemons: Often furless and always muzzle-less, their only visibly bestial traits being their ears and tails. This variety tends to be a bit shorter than the average human, as well as more lean.
Genetics and Reproduction
Hybrids are fairly common among daemons, as even though they tend to stay within their own geographical and ecological families, external factors often cause a melding of communities. Compatibility is much broader than the animals the daemons are based on, leading to a much wider variety of species than observed in the wild.
Upper, lower, and demi-daemons have no issue copulating between groups, or even expanding outside the realm of daemon-kind. Although not incredibly common, numerous human-daemon hybrids have been recorded, the result resembling a demi-daemon while biologically distinct in numerous ways, such as the latter retaining a higher percentage of their animal instincts and appearance.
Growth Rate & Stages
Daemons have a much more rapid growth cycle in terms of physical size and strength than humans, reaching full adulthood as soon as 18 years old. This distinction from humans stems from the womb itself, daemon newborns crawling and walking more than twice as fast as the average human.
Ecology and Habitats
A daemon's needs depends largely on both their size and amount of fur. Greater daemons can be found in much more extreme climates on both sides of the spectrum, while lesser and demi-daemons tend to stay near human settlements.
Dietary Needs and Habits
Daemons tend to be more omnivorous than their animal counterparts, but still benefit greatly from an appropriate diet within their food group. Daemon-centric societies consider it customary to offer at least two distinct options per meal for meat eaters and plant eaters.
Additional Information
Perception and Sensory Capabilities
As expected, daemons tend to possess enhanced sensory abilities, though suffer from similar limitations to their less developed cousins (felines tend to be farsighted, canines can't look directly upwards, etc.) An enhanced sense of smell is almost universal, however, with a majority of daemons also possessing a night-vision of some kind.

Scientific Name
Animalis sapiens sapiens, Homo animalis animalis

Lifespan

Conservation Status
Once hunted due to the strength and general quality of their pelts, most contemporary societies have banned this act of poaching as a result. Demi-daemons tend to fall outside of this protection, however, due to their short or complete lack of fur, and have had a history of being hunted for their ears and tails.
