Armies of the Prelacy of Almor

Although the normal, peacetime, strength of Almor is only some 5,000 infantry and horse, plus forces supplied by the noble/gentry of approximately 20,000, war with the Great Kingdom has drastically increased the military footing of the Prelacy. The army is planned to reach nearly double that number by the end of CY 578.

• 4,000 light infantry with spear and shield

• 1,000 light elvish infantry with spear and sword

• 2,000 light infantry with longbow

• 1,500 light elvish infantry with longbow

• 1,500 medium infantry with longbow, wearing chainmail

• 1,500 medium infantry with hand weapons, wearing chainmail and shield

• 6,500 heavy infantry with pole arms, wearing plate mail

• 4,000 light cavalry with javelin and sword

• 2,000 medium cavalry with hand weapons, wearing chainmail and shield

• 400 heavy cavalry with lance and sword or axe, wearing plate mail and shield (knights)

The Almorian strategy relies on the Nyrondese army at Innspa to protect the frontier, so no garrisons have been left behind. In addition to the forces listed, however, there is also a significant body of troops based in Oldred, which are intended to make landings on the coast to keep the armies of South Province off balance. These troops consist of:

• 3,700 light infantry with spear and shield (levies)

• 2,500 light infantry with sling and sword (skirmishers)

• 1,000 heavy infantry with sword or axe, wearing plate mail and shield

• 700 light cavalry with spear and shield

As with Nyrond, French or English miniatures from the feudal or Hundred Years Wars era would work very well for Almorian troops.
