Drow - Species
The Drow, also known as dark elves, are a mysterious and formidable elven subrace that dwell deep within the vast, labyrinthine caverns of the Underdark. With their ebony skin, white or silvery hair, and glowing red or violet eyes, they are an unmistakable presence in the shadows of the subterranean world. Unlike their surface-dwelling elven kin, the Drow have built a society ruled by ambition, cunning, and an unwavering devotion to Lolth, the Spider Queen—a cruel and capricious goddess who demands obedience and rewards treachery.
Life among the Drow is ruthless, and survival is never guaranteed. Their cities, such as the infamous Menzoberranzan, are ruled by powerful noble houses, each vying for dominance through deception, assassination, and arcane might. In this matriarchal society, priestesses of Lolth hold supreme authority, while males, unless exceptionally skilled or ambitious, are often relegated to subservient roles. Slavery, cruelty, and intrigue are the pillars upon which Drow civilization is built, fostering a culture where trust is scarce and betrayal is expected.
Despite their reputation as villains and slavers, not all Drow embrace this way of life. Some seek escape to the surface, longing for a life free from Lolth’s web of control. These exiles are often distrusted, as legends of the Drow’s cruelty run deep, but those who prove their worth can carve out a place in the world above. Whether they remain in the Underdark or venture to the surface, the Drow are a force to be reckoned with—masters of stealth, sorcery, and survival in the darkness.
