Aasimar - Species
Aasimar are mortals touched by the divine, bearing within them the radiance of celestial heritage. Unlike Tieflings, who inherit the taint of fiendish blood, Aasimar are marked by the light of the heavens, their souls bound to an otherworldly purpose. Whether they descend from angelic beings, divine messengers, or the very essence of celestial law, they carry an undeniable otherness—a presence that inspires awe, reverence, or even fear. Their luminous eyes, golden or silver veins, and faintly glowing auras hint at their origins, though not all Aasimar are bound to lives of righteousness.
Each Aasimar is born with a guide, an incorporeal celestial spirit that whispers in their dreams and nudges them toward a higher calling. Some embrace this role, becoming healers, champions, or warriors of justice, while others resist, seeing their celestial birthright as a chain rather than a gift. The burden of expectation weighs heavily on them—to be pure, to be righteous, to be something more than mortal—and not all Aasimar can bear it. Those who fall from grace, either through despair or defiance, may twist their divine gifts into something darker, becoming Fallen Aasimar, whose celestial light has soured into an eerie, shadowed radiance.
Despite their divine connection, Aasimar are still mortal, flawed, and bound by choice. They walk among the common folk, often as wanderers or exiles, wrestling with their purpose in a world that does not always welcome them. Some hide their nature, wary of those who would use or worship them. Others shine boldly, living as beacons of hope. But whether they rise to celestial heights or fall into the abyss, one truth remains—the light within them will never be fully extinguished.
