The beauty of the Greek civilization has caught western eyes for millennia, but what if the beauty of ancient Greece was everlasting? What if the geography of the Peloponnese was blown up to fill an entire world? City-States would be like countries, and one could wander around them for weeks. What if the magic of Dungeons and Dragons was thrown into the world of Greece? There would be more danger, more progress, and all the more reason to stay inside the walls of City-States. This is my vision of Greece for a campaign setting, and I welcome you to it. As with all campaign settings we assume some things, first being that the world is ancient. This world has been livable for over 30,000 years. This means there are ruins, dungeons aplenty, and long forgotten tombs to explore. Expect everything you see in Dungeons and Dragons to be here, but keep in mind that hydras are more common than dragons, that you might run into manticores and sphinxes more than expected, but that beholders and krakens are still very much a reality. In addition to these creatures you'll see far more races than humans. Elves, Dwarves, Orcs, Halflings, Tieflings, Dragonborn, Minotaurs, Centaurs, and the newest addition, Warforged. Warforged are the product of the most recent war that devastated the world of Greece for forty years. The Trojan War led to great expansion of technology, and a realization that civilized cultures are capable of far more horrible things than imaginable. The War ended five years ago, but the impact it left is still fresh in the mind of all who can remember it's horrors. After the Trojan War, Greece entered a New Era of peace and prosperity. Threats to the safety of Greece's people only come through nature itself and their own doing. The world is run by the gods of Olympus on high, but the day to day falls to the humanoid races. These peoples have forged strong alliances through military campaigns and through trade, but that does not mean all alliances are perfect. Just as the races of humanoids can bicker back and forth, so can the mighty city-states that they reside in. In this New Era of peace, some tensions long thought to be gone are returning once again. Things are beginning to stir in the West, and monsters thought long dead are returning. The humanoid races of the world are weak after the Trojan War, and the powers that be know this.
