Star of the Bastion
Description:
The Star of the Bastion stands as the highest honor that can be bestowed upon an officer of the Great Isle Union’s Army, the landborne counterpart to the Admiral’s Star of the Deep. It symbolizes unyielding leadership, brilliance in command, and devotion to the preservation of the realm’s strength and honor.
The medal itself is crafted of pure gold, its surface engraved with a fortified bastion rising behind a pair of crossed swords, all framed within a wreath of laurel leaves — a mark of triumph earned through steadfast courage and tactical mastery. The maroon ribbon, flanked by two white vertical stripes, signifies sacrifice and duty balanced by purity of intent. The color evokes the blood and resolve of soldiers who stand unbroken before the storm.
Every aspect of the Star of the Bastion reflects the burdens and virtues of command: the bastion for vigilance, the swords for valor, and the laurel for victory hard-won through wisdom rather than chance.
Conditions for Award:
The Star of the Bastion is awarded only by decree of the Crown and the Council of Generals, and only to those whose actions have altered the course of war or safeguarded the Great Isle Union itself. Recipients must have:
- Commanded with exceptional brilliance and valor in a campaign or battle of national consequence.
- Demonstrated supreme leadership resulting in the survival, triumph, or elevation of the Union’s army.
- Upheld the ideals of discipline, loyalty, and honor under circumstances of overwhelming adversity.
- Shown strategic or humanitarian excellence that defined a generation of service.
Traditionally, the award is presented within the Hall of the Bastion, a sanctum within the capital fortress reserved for the greatest heroes of the realm.
