Graven Caves
The caves remember and the walls still scream.
As seen in
If you stumble upon three caves encircled by gray death-appearing mushrooms and trees weeping sap like tears … use caution. If you are on a mist-covered mountain to the east, then flee.
Inside these caves, ill deeds were committed, and the walls remember.
Death
Their last moments of refusing to taint their purity came from their own. The murderer’s purity became unredeemable, and it shrieked out in pain, forever transformed into something it was never to be. What remained of the Aethereal Dragons found their connection with the Obsidian Fissure solidified that dark cycle.
Consequences
Their actions reach Nature, and she finds them cowering in their caves. She sends forth the spore blight. She takes their wings, their scales, and their damaged purity.
Promises
Stripped of everything except their connection with the Obsidian Fissure, the Aethereal Dragons crave what they once were. They beg and make promises to Nature. Telling her they will change. They will do better. She watches and sees them do the one thing that would give her trust in them again. They pull away from the Fissure.
Forgiveness
Nature gives them their purity back as an act of acknowledgement of what they have accomplished. She urges them to continue down this path.
A Final Betrayal
It has been a thousand years, and Nature’s watchful eyes have gone away from the Aethereal Dragons. A recent threat is moving across her ecosphere. She watches as trees fall, not from sickness or age, but for consumption. To build things that scare her planet. In her absence, the Aethereal Dragons lose the path, and this time it is not just their own they kill.
What Remains If you enter these caves today, you will witness Nature’s rage.
Claw marks left by the dead.
Feathers and scales embedded in stone.
Dragon Blood Stones shattered and pierced the walls.
Dark and Bright lights seem to dance just ahead of you but never close enough to be sure.
It’s the sounds that you will never forget.
Screams of a broken soul.
Moans of the lost.
And the horrifying screams of the first dragon betrayed a youngling.
If you dare to step inside, when you leave you will not be the same, dragon or two-legged.
Inside these caves, ill deeds were committed, and the walls remember.
