Summer Camp 2025 Prep
Nothing like an ADHD last minute scramble! I feel like Gothic Age and Sail Away got a bit left behind, so first and foremost I'm planning to focus on them this Summer Camp (primarily Gothic Age/Churchwall and Savagar).
Week 1 Nourishment
Assignment 1
In Churchwall, there's a vast difference between the Haves/Have Nots, and that's one of the driving conflicts of the tensions between the districts of the city.
Assignment 2
[I need to figure out how people are adding their Summer Camp pledges to their pages. lol]
I'm aiming at Diamond, because I'm a compulsive completionist.
Assignment 3
Somehow Gothic Age had no meta! I fixed that, and touched up some broken links and things, and I'll probably add/adjust as I go.
I'm developing Gothic Age/Churchwall's worldbuilding because I want to push it further into being it's own stand-alone setting, without relying on the original fan fiction's source material. For this, I'm planning to start by re-working the map. I still like the overall landmasses, but I think the layouts of the districts need to be re-arranged and tweaked a bit to make more sense. I also want to develop the architecture/the look of the city and its buildings, and mockup some concept art.
Week 2 Roots
Assignment 1
I definitely want to doodle a little more around Churchwall's past histories, because it's supposed to be a long-established city, and I really haven't nailed down any of those details. Might be something important to actually work through. ^_^;
Assignment 2
The homepage definitely needs help. I don't even have an intro for Gothic Age on the homepage! Yikes. I'd also like to do new art/headers. Time to play catch-up.
Assignment 3
My first worldbuilding project was pristine, with no mistakes or flaws! I was 8, lol. I will say, while creating a language from scratch might add to the flavor of a world, I don't think I'll ever be quite that ambitious again! I'll stick to smaller scale things like phonetics and maybe some common idioms or something.
Week 3 Metamorphosis
Assignment 1
Changes in technology and how it affects the city's core foundations build around commerce and trade are one of the biggest catalysts for Gothic Age's Churchwall. Not just goods, but information flows faster and reaches further. The times are a'changin' and whenever there's big, dramatic change (especially if it's in a relatively short timespan), there's big, dramatic pushback.
And then add vampires. ^_^
Assignment 2
For me, genres are either love 'em or loathe 'em, so I can't really call something *new*.... I'll say there's still things to learn from things you hate, as well. Not just in a "what not to do," sort of way, either. For example, I *hate* westerns, but you can still study them for how their tropes create appealing stories for their audience.
Assignment 3
Looking at everybody's worlds is a dangerous rabbit hole.....
Week 4 Tomorrow
Literally.......
Assingment 1
For Churchwall, the different layers of the city have vastly different outlooks for the future. There's those who see nothing but a hopeless, endless misery with no sign of relief in sight, and then there's those who think they'll be living it up from dusk to dawn for eternity....
Nothing lasts forever.
Assignment 2
Plan ahead.....
One day ahead is still ahead!! lol
*Finding out I can re-set stubs is helpful. There's a number of things that I've created place-holders for, but haven't actually developed yet, so that's really good to know.
Best of luck with all your goals! I really liked your map :D
