Jaklyjy Jnak

Jaklyjy Jnak, commonly known as The Holy City of the Chosen of the Jnuka is a city that is on a large island, the second of the tri-cities. It is the smallest by the fact that to live there, you must worship the Ja Jnuka. Most of it's citizens are temporary as they are pilgrimming priests and those in training at The High Cathedrals.

Districts

There are three main districts to Jaklyjy Jnak; they are the Home of the Chosen, The Enlightened Priesthood and The Free Mages.

The District of the Chosen

The District of the Chosen is where the Chosen of the Jnuka are housed, where they are trained and where the aspirants live during the period before they become Chosen or fail.

The Enlightened Priesthood

The Enlightened Priesthood is where the priests of the Jajnuka that are of the highest level are trained. If you want to ascend beyond the level of managing a small church, prayer site or effigy, you must go to Jaklyjy Jnak to be trained among the enlightened, those who have already been trained or are hoping to be trained at some point will often pilgrimage to Jaklyjy Jnak and that is where they are housed during their pilgrimages.

The Free Mages

The Free Mages is where mages are often trained, since the use of Essen is banned in the wider Gorakin Empire they must go to places like Jaklyjy Jnak and The Mantara Isles where the empire is least strong and the use of Essen is still legal and so they can train in the use of miracles and spells. This district also houses the High Scholar Mages who create new spells.

  Architecture

The Architecture in Jaklyjy Jnak is gothic with high spires and expansive cathedrals, which contain large statues and effigies and unlike churches of the Ja Jnuka in other places of the world do not contain any instruments such as organs or drums and in Jaklyjy Jnak rather than the priests facing the congregation, all of the congregation including the priest face the effigy and pray in silence and there is no hymns or songs. Often, the churches have extensions off the side where those who are the highest of the priesthood or the chosen live. In the centre of the city there is a large manor house where the two prophets, being the highest ranked member of The Chosen and the highest ranked priest in the priesthood convene to make decisions on how The Chosen and the priesthood shall act.

Climate

The climate of Jaklyjy Jnak is warm, humid and is full of salty sea air. Full of untouched grassy fields and the island is surrounded by brackish marshes sprouting mangrove like plants that can grow up to twenty meters tall and in the water of those swamps, large semi-aquatic beaked creatures lay in wait that can grow up to twelve meters long and can run or swim at speeds of fifteen to thirty miles an hour, in short bursts. Of course, the islands skies are full of wild Jnuka.

The Chosen of the Jnuka

Jaklyjy Jnak is the home of The Chosen of the Jnuka, although Jnuka are found all over the Tri-City area and further to the east and south coast of Jshang, Jaklyjy Jnak is the only place where people are trained to ride them and the only place where they have been tamed consistently. The Chosen of the Jnuka have many outposts away from Jaklyjy Jnak but it's a requirement once someone has ascended to the rank of a Chosen that they are given a house in Jaklyjy Jnak, all of the highest meetings and convenings of The Chosen of the Jnuka are held at Jaklyjy Jnak, as the island is the largest breeding grounds for them.

The Great War

During The Great War, Jaklyjy Jnak played a large part in defending the Tri-City area and pushing back against The Gorakin Advance when they came to The Jalkuc Desert. They often send detachments of Jnuka to bomb places from the air - or to send lightning and fire raining down upon settlements taken by The Gorakin. As they are and were the centre of mages and magepower and so with the use of Essen Bonding, they were also the centre of communication. Often, they managed to enable evacuation of towns in front of The Gorakins advance that way, when The Gorakin came to a town they would have no one to man the farms and produce food to resupply armies and send back to other troops on different fronts.

Pre and Post Great War

Before and after The Great War, Jaklyjy Jnak has had much influence over the Tri-Ciity areas and almost everywhere west of The Great Marshes, north of The Holy Isles and south of Jyjlgaouky. Though their practices are isolationists their influence lies in their control over those who worship the Jajnuka and another part of their influence lies within their councillors, which are in the court of almost every ruler. Defending the interest of Jaklyjy Jnak and those who worship the Jajnuka.
