Forged from the essence of Krorone’s celestial power and woven with threads of cosmic power, the Armor of Stars is a symbol of divine authority and eternal burden. This dark plate armor shimmers with starlight, its surface etched with constellations that shift and move, mirroring the night sky.

Mechanics & Inner Workings

Command of the Stars

Once per attunement, the wearer of the Armor of Stars can issue a Celestial Command to the people of the Nocturnis Territory (or a chosen group bound to Krorone’s influence). This command is absolute and cannot be denied unless the creature falls into one of the following categories:

  • Swordbearers: Individuals marked by Krorone’s grace and wielders of divine authority as dictated by the court of stars
  • Creatures with Legendary Resistance who succeed on a DC 22 Wisdom saving throw.

Effects:

  • The command acts like a divine version of the wish spell, capable of complex instructions or world-altering effects.
  • All affected creatures are magically compelled to fulfill the command, their actions are shaped to align with its intent.
  • The compulsion overrides moral or emotional hesitation, but individuals may still feel guilt or sorrow over their actions.

Eternal Burden

Once the Celestial Command is issued, the armor immediately attunes to the wearer and fuses permanently to their body until the command is fulfilled and is under the following effects:

  • The wearer cannot remove the armor by any means (physical, magical, or divine).
  • The armor sustains the wearer indefinitely, granting immunity to exhaustion, aging, and the need to eat, drink, or breathe.
  • The wearer has resistance to radiant and necrotic damage
  • The wearer has immunity to charm and fear effects
  • The wearer gains advantage on wisdom saving throws
  • If the wearer dies before the command is fulfilled, their soul remains bound to the armor, animating their body as a spectral guardian to see the command through.

Curse of the Stars

The Armor of Stars is a symbol true power and horror with its power tied to the wearer’s conviction.

  • Upon donning the Armor of Stars, the wearer is immediately struck by the crushing awareness of their divine responsibility and the enormity of wielding such cosmic power. They must succeed on a DC 20 Wisdom saving throw or suffer the effects of madness, as described in the Dungeon Master's Guide (short-term, long-term, or indefinite, depending on the severity the DM wishes to impose). Regardless of success or failure, the armor begins to consume the wearer's very essence: their soul and humanity are inexorably drawn into the celestial void within the armor, much like a black hole devours light.
  • The armor cannot be willingly removed unless its command is fulfilled, binding the wearer to their choice.
  • At the start of each day the armor is worn, the wearer must succeed on a DC 20 charisma saving throw. On a failure, they lose a fragment of their personality and memories, becoming increasingly detached and inhuman. After three failed saving throws, the wearer’s alignment shifts permanently to Neutral Evil as they become a vessel for the cosmic will of destruction and balance.
  • The Event Horizon: If the wearer attempts to remove the armor prematurely or resist its influence, they must succeed on a DC 22 Wisdom saving throw or their soul will become bound to the armor. Once the command is fulfilled and the armor is removed from the wearer's body, their physical body dies and their soul is consumed by the armor, lost in the eternal darkness where they experience an eternity of torment as part of the armor.

History

The Armor of Stars is both a blessing and a curse, entrusted only to those Krorone deems worthy of wielding its power. The Moonkeeper of old wielded this armor during the Cataclysm of Stars, issuing a single command that unified the people of Nocturnis and led them to victory—but at an unspeakable cost. Legends speak of the wielder’s eternal regret, a warning to all who would dare take up the celestial mantle.
