I, Lady Sythra, The Endless Grief Sovereign of the Abyssal Gloom and embodiment of despair, do hereby bind the soul of Aeren Grimvein—whose mortal coil has been severed yet whose essence endures—to my eternal service. In recognition of your rebirth under my sorrowful gaze, and in exchange for sparing you the oblivion of death, you are conscripted to be an agent of despair—one who must unmake hope and expose the hollowness of the false dark.
Clause I – Binding of the Soul
Your soul, now unmoored from the confines of mortal life, is irrevocably bound to me. This covenant shall remain in force until you have either fulfilled my bidding or are consumed by unending torment. You shall forever bear an aura of melancholic weight—a constant reminder of loss and regret—that marks you as mine. This aura will intensify with every failure to honor your duty, its oppressive presence an ever-looming testament to your debt. This contract is eternal. It binds not only your present self but every echo of your soul across the ages. Only by the unanimous decree of the powers that govern sorrow—or by achieving a destiny inscribed in the tears of the lost—may this covenant be altered or released. Until such a time comes, every step you take is under the unyielding shadow of my dominion, and every act of despair you commit is a reaffirmation of this unbreakable bond.
Clause II – The Blade Annghorhast
You are commanded to align yourself with Aymon Laavethyn—a mortal champion entrusted with carrying a sacred blade, an instrument imbued with the duty of ending and sorrow. Annghorhast, though unaware of the deeper mysteries surrounding the blade, serves as an unknowing vessel of my will and a living symbol of the despair afflicting the moon elf people. Your fates are now irrevocably intertwined. Together, you and Blade Annghorhast shall act in concert to sow despair and dismantle the vestiges of hope propagated by the false dark goddess. Should Blade Annghorhast falter or fall in battle, the sacred blade shall be your burden to wield. In that moment, you must assume his role, carrying forth its grim mandate to bring about the end as ordained by the will of sorrow. Your charge is that the blade Annghorhast must be plunged into the mythal to end it causing suffering to the false goddess herself.
Clause III – Duties and Designated Enmities
Your charge is to unravel the threads of hope woven into the hearts of mortals and immortals alike. You must turn dreams to dust, leaving a palpable, haunting sorrow in your wake. In every endeavor, you are to actively resist and undermine the influence of the current goddess of darkness, Krorone. Her reign is an affront to my dominion, and you are forbidden from supporting or abetting her workings. Failure to oppose Krorone will invoke my wrath, and your emotional torment shall be doubled—a price exacted in the currency of despair. The blade Annghorhast must be plunged into the mythal to end it
Clause IV – The Harvest of Sorrow
You are tasked with the gathering of every shard of anguish, every fragment of broken memory, and every whispered regret encountered in your path. These tokens of despair shall be presented at altars in my name, where they serve to fuel and expand the power that sustains my realm. Over time, the sorrow you collect may reveal long-hidden truths, particularly those entwined with the sacred blade and the dark tapestry of Krorone’s influence.
Clause V – Penalties for Breach
Should you stray from your sacred obligations or attempt to undermine this covenant, know that the very despair you are commanded to sow will turn viciously against you. Your soul shall be besieged by an avalanche of grief so profound that no mortal plea or intervention can redeem you. Redemption shall be unattainable except through the absolute fulfillment of these terms. Any deviation from your duty will result in a doubling of the emotional torment you already endure, marking you ever deeper with the stain of endless grief. Should you fall and return to me your torment and suffering will be beyond mortal imagination and limitations. You shall perish on the plane of mortals barbarically and then you will return here to wander in the gloom of the abyss where creatures will gnaw and tear your soul apart indefinitely only to be rebirthed to the mortal realm once your services are necessary again.
By accepting this contract, you acknowledge that your every action—every act of despair wrought upon a hopeful heart—is both a debt repaid and a step further into the abyss of sorrow. Blade Annghorhast and the sacred blade are your companions on this dark path, and together, you shall ensure that the false darkness is unmade, and that despair reigns supreme.
