Spine of the Leviathan
The Spine of the Leviathan
Staff, legendary (requires attunement by a spellcaster or warrior attuned to primal/abyssal forces)
This weapon is made from the vertebrae of the First Leviathan, bleached white from centuries in the crushing depths. Each knotted segment of bone is bound by strips of abyssal sinew, and faint bioluminescent patterns pulse across it like the heartbeat of the deep. When raised, the air grows heavier, as though the ocean itself were pressing down.
Weapon (Quarterstaff)
- Damage: 1d8 bludgeoning (versatile 1d10)
- Magical Enhancement: +3 bonus to attack and damage rolls.
Features
Pressure of the Deep. On a hit, the target must succeed on a DC 17 Constitution save or be crushed by abyssal pressure, taking an additional 2d10 force damage and having their speed reduced by 10 feet until the end of their next turn.
Call of the Abyss (3/Day). As an action, you slam the Spine into the ground, summoning the Leviathan’s lingering will. A 30-ft radius becomes filled with spectral currents and bones. Enemies treat the area as difficult terrain and must succeed on a DC 17 Strength save or be knocked prone as ghostly coils drag them down.
Tidal Wrath (Recharge 5–6). You release the staff’s full power in a 60-ft line, 10 ft wide. Each creature in the line must make a DC 18 Strength save, taking 8d10 bludgeoning damage and being pushed 30 feet on a failed save, or half damage and no push on a success.
Abyssal Resonance. While attuned, you can breathe underwater and gain resistance to cold damage.
