Session 14: The Price of Faith Report
General Summary
Last we left off, the group found themselves leaving the temple of Bhita after turning the power back on and receiving a very bad message from Ignor Ramous. They headed back towards civilization, traversing through the tunnel where the train had crashed, stopping to rest, getting out and finding their cart, and then eventually finding a car that they were able to crank right up. Ray was able to manage it without any issues and drove all the way back to the Great City of Trealing! There, he encountered his father who told him the story of The Shame of the Cyst Family and how the grand forge came to be in the city of Prul. After the story, it was time. It was time to deliver a child and a new forge into the world. The child was brought into the world; however, Ray's father was there telling him to hold on to Maerla Ironfist who after the divine birth slowly began to disintegrate into nothingness. As she faded away, Ray turned towards his mother who had delivered and swaddled the child to see tears streaming down her face and could easily make out a single word, "Home" as she cast word of recall and her and the child disappeared.
Chaos ensued. Klaus was passed out in the trunk of the car and the group headed towards the city of Prul, hoping to catch Ray's mother before it was too late. Ray immediately pulled up to the temple, trying to see if there was anyone there...no luck. Boots aka Ghost went to Ray's house where he found Mira Cyst having a bowl of ice cream for dinner and was oblivious to the world's comings and goings. She scanned through the house, finding a quick grab and go style escape with jewelry missing and a bag of clothes and not really anything else. The group scrambled before heading towards the small dock through the paved road through the forest of the town. Pulled up next to an abandoned car, Ghost noticed a mast sticking out of the water where a boat had been sunk and they put it all together. Ray's mother was a leaf in the wind and she had ensured that no one could follow her. Ray tried to contact her, but she didn't really respond, only letting him know that she would protect her grandchild and that this was not what she had been taught over the years.
Returning home, Ray sat down with Liora Cyst and explained to her the situation; however, she did not take it very well either. She was doing her best to take care of her younger siblings, cut off from her own dreams at the moment. Tired, dazed, and confused, the group slept at Ray's house before making the decision to head over to the Verdantia Territory to hopefully run across Ray's mother and continue the next leg of their journey. After waking up they made their way towards Kan Guruhm, the dwarven style settlement that sat on the very edge of nature and technology. As the car they had died once it exited the Technara Territory, they continued on foot, marveling at the city carved into the mountains before noticing a few wanted posters with some rather interesting pictures on them. It seems the The Wayfarer's Guild has marked some members of the group as wanted "Dead or Alive". This also upset Klaus as the Wayfarer's Guild were definitely the ones that had caused all of the problems in Blale. Continuing further into town, they stopped by one of the manufacturing forges there where Ray purchased some Froststone, but they did not tarry too long there.
Exiting the city and moving forward, the group decided to make camp next to a river that would lead them to the crossroads of Bokdat and Dirnrogh Mill. As the night progressed, Amahri Rhea noticed a woman by the riverside calling for help. Awakening the group, they moved towards her where Ray noticed an arcane shift in the air surrounding her. Birds seemed to be flying backwards, wind was blowing in weird directions, and something just didn't seem right. Boots aka Ghost let a bullet fly towards her; however, this women seemed to bend the very fates around her and it ended up coming back and hitting Aeren Grimvein in the leg. Seeing this, the group faltered slightly, and she healed Aeren's leg, tying the bits and pieces that had been blown off with small, golden threads. Eryndra, the Fatestring Hag needed the little "godlings" to go retrieve her sister and if they would succeed, she would bend fate for them. After some deliberation, the group agreed and began walking backwards to the flow of time until they reached the moment where the final blow was struck against Zoratha, The Time Hag. Around them stood the adventuring party of the five-guys. Smithy, Ignor, Lucid, Volii,....and Dot. The group comtemplated, but ended up grabbing the time hag and Aeren Grimvein decided to grab Dot. Exiting and heading back to their current spot in time, they ran across creatures where they were knocked around and slipped through moments of the time stream, revealing Nebnuss's crashing and smacking Ignor through walls and trees, Balazar's death by Bertrom, Albert showing the elves of Didun how to rid themselves of a fungal infestation, and the birth of Albert himself. The group realized that the creatures couldn't be killed, so they bolted towards the exit where they all appeared back within the flow of time. The timehag slowly began coming to and Dot looking around, trying to figure out what was going on took a familiar stance. Ray was trying to talk some sense into him when unfortunately, he let an arrow fly dropping Ray in one shot. Eryndra looked around and spun her fingers quickly before the two disappeared out of sight, but as luck would have it there was a cat sitting on Klaus's head...who began talking and showing sympathy for Klaus because he'd been pushed into the water. The cat explained that he'd made a promise to protect two children, but there was only one...and he wasn't quite sure what had happened, but he had a feeling that this moment at this spot was the divergence. Aeren offered up his own child to the cat, saying that this was his fault. A sly grin wrapped around the cat's mouth and he uttered, "Done." before him and Dot both disappeared into the ether. And now as you stand there with the sun coming up, we ask the age old question..."What do now?"
