Mors Luctuosa - The Blade of Despair
"Be my veil of despair, to unearth the truth in grief. Wield sorrow as strength, weave dread into resolve, and carry your bearer toward the reckoning of the heart's lament. As the weight of sorrow sinks deeper into their soul, let the blade pierce the veils of illusion, for in sorrow, all truths are laid bare. With every strike, may the cry of the heart's lament echo louder, and may its resolve shape the course of fate, until the reckoning is done and despair reigns supreme."

Lament’s Embrace. Once per short rest, when you strike a creature that has recently experienced significant emotional loss or despair (as determined by the DM, either through roleplay or contextual events), the blade channels the sorrow of the target. Upon hitting, the weapon deals an additional 2d6 necrotic damage (added after) and forces the target to make a Wisdom saving throw (DC 14). On a failed save, the target is paralyzed with grief, paralyzed until the end of their turn as memories of their sorrowful past overwhelm them. Alternatively, if you score a critical hit with Mors Luctuosa, you may choose to release a wave of grief, causing all creatures within 15 feet of the target to make a Wisdom saving throw (DC 14). On a failed save, the creatures are paralyzed until the end of their turn.

Curse: The Sheath of Sorrow
Mors Luctuosa is not just a blade of the hells; it is the physical manifestation of the sorrow of its wielder. Its power is drawn from their sorrow, grief, and despair and becomes attached to their soul. Its wielder becomes its unwilling sheath. While attuned to the blade, the wielder cannot safely sheathe it in a traditional way. Instead, whenever the wielder attempts to return the sword to a resting place (such as inside a scabbard, or on their person), the blade is absorbed into their body, causing them intense pain. The wielder must take 1d4 necrotic damage each time the blade is sheathed, as the sword sinks into the flesh, its sorrowful essence latching back their soul.
