Biyllmoor

Biyllmoor is the large area of coastal bog to the south of the Vivant River. Being surrounded by the sea to the East and the huge mountain range to the south and west, the area was historically insignificant and generally under the control of the City of Seymoore, although has recently gained greater autonomy following the booming of the peat industry at Reeds, the region's capital. Although designated with a Lord, the title is largely decorative in both the Imperial Court and local decisions due to a predominant merchant class. Beyond Reeds, Biyllmoor is largely empty with most lands being too marshy for settlement and having little resources for exploitation.

Geography

Biyllmoor is bound between the Vivant River to the North, the sea to the East and the huge mountain ranges to the South and West. The Couplen Stream originates from one such mountain range and flows eastward, passing through the Town of Reeds. By the time the stream reaches Biyllmoor from the mountains, it is slow and shallow but wide, and a black-brown colour from heavy peat and clay pollutants. Most land within Biyllmoor is extremely flat, resulting in the Couplen and Vivant Rivers often bursting their banks and flooding the region. Biyllmoor is also littered with lakes of all sizes, a mix of both salt water and fresh water, creating rapidly changing ecosystems across the area. Mud, marshes and bogs are prevalent everywhere. The tallest point within Biyllmoor is Ruundo Hill at 10m - this hill is also where Reeds was built upon.

Natural Resources

Biyllmoor has a distinct lack of most resources; trees are rare throughout the landscape and the land is largely poor for agriculture. However, there are rich reserves of peat, a popular affordable fuel in the Empire, and clay, common in the region for brickwork. Fish and crab is realtively abundent in the many water sources throughout the swamp.

Tourism

Biyllmoor receives little attention aside from immigrants and smugglers. For inhabitants of the Ashlands, Reeds is often the closest and most achievable destination for getting to the Empire's heartland; and smugglers found Reeds an ideal location to get goods into the Empire whilst avoiding Seymoore's heavy taxes and fees.
