Point Harrow
Point Harrow is a howling wall of shrieking metal surrounds the ruins of a dead peninsula. Beyond it lies silence—and a wizard who no longer obeys the laws of reality.
Overview
Once a coastal retreat for arcanists and navigators, Point Harrow is now a forbidden ruin entombed within a relentless magical storm known as the Metalstorm. To the untrained eye, it appears as a massive sphere of shrieking metal suspended over land and sea. Within that storm lies a secret: the calm heart of the storm still holds the shattered peninsula—and the last known location of the legendary wizard Wulfram the Hollow.History
Point Harrow was forever changed when two mighty spellcasters —Wulfram and Tinnestron—engaged in a sorcerous duel on the peninsula's edge. The clash of opposing magical philosophies triggered a planar chain reaction, tearing the region apart and forming what is now called the Metalstorm. The storm formed a shell of magnetic violence and planar instability around the site of the duel. Most assumed the peninsula was obliterated and both wizards destroyed. However, later auguries suggested that Wulfram survived and resides still within the hollow eye of the storm. The Metalstorm
The Metalstorm is not merely weather—it is a permanent arcane phenomenon. Shards of magically summoned metal swirl at extreme speeds, accelerated by invisible magnetic currents. These shards range in size from flecks to fragments the size of carriages. The storm howls day and night, and its sounds can be heard as far as 20 miles inland."The wind cuts the soul. The steel cuts the rest." – Anonymous Hellknight cartographer
Known Traits
- Endless Source: Shards appear from nowhere—likely drawn from the Plane of Earth.
- Three-Dimensional Danger: The storm extends into sky, sea, and even the Ethereal Plane.
- Unnatural Harm: Physical entry deals catastrophic damage per round. Protection from Normal Missiles is ineffective.
- Force Interference: Wall of Force and similar spells lose 1d10 charges per round.
- Calm Center: The core is hollow—300 yards of chaos conceal a deathly still interior. Dimension Door (CL 10+) can bypass it—if one knows where to land.
The Eye of the Storm
At the center of the Metalstorm is a pocket of unnatural calm. The air is still. Time feels wrong. Magic resists form. This is where Wulfram is believed to reside. The landscape is scarred with embedded steel, crumbling arcane ruins, and shifting leylines. This core is visible only to those who have entered it—no magical scrying or remote viewing has successfully pierced the storm. Rumors suggest the presence of a floating structure known as the Shifting Fortress, but no descriptions of it remain consistent.Common Rumors
- Metal fragments inscribed with abyssal glyphs have washed ashore near Westcrown.
- Fire mephits have been seen fleeing the storm carrying scroll tubes marked with the symbol of Abraxas.
- A wizard who teleported into the storm returned blind and unable to speak—his eyes burned out, his tongue etched with runes.
- Some claim the storm shifts subtly over time, aligning with celestial conjunctions. Others call it a ticking bomb of reality.
Travel Advisory
DO NOT APPROACH POINT HARROW. The Chelish Arcane Council has placed a standing interdiction on the region. No official mapping, surveying, or magical experimentation is permitted within 30 miles of the stormfront. Violators are assumed lost.
