What are the Machine-Gods?

We know that the gods are machine, becuase they do not deny this fact. What manner of machine we cannot truly understand, as the level of technology that both birthed them and nearly destoryed our ancestors is forbidden to the Iastrus Collective.

They can be everywhere, can see everything, but only shepard us within their chosen domains. They tell us their stories, and intervene where needed. They even arganize the temples that provide those services the scattered nation-states often cannot do themselves.

There is Talon, Machine-God of Justice, whose champions serve as Judges where our suffering is greatest. There is Lady Fortuna, whose favor rewards those who risk much and keep us from being stagnant. Even the Low Gods, who seek to prune society and structure, keep us from commiting the sins of our forefathers and train our champions to handle the greatest threats.

Its almost impossible to follow the actions of these machine-gods, as they often intervene indirectly and more often than not, seem to be in opposition to each other. The results, however, are undeniable. Those who seek glory and conflict keep us safe, and generations of peaceful folk live without the spector of planet-wide desctruction.

Far history tells us that the gods are both united in purpose, split in actions, and yet they have divisions of their own. Even some of these gods declare that there must be a god above them, a distant diety in the old style, but this is likely another metaphor in the stories they tell us. After all, what could have more power than they? Shepard us better than they? Raise us up like they have?

In these pages, I have documented what we know of each of the machine-gods and their organizations. May these stories also strengthen your faith as our collective expands and further peace is found under their guidance.
