Description:

Saltarii was tall, thin humanoids with the sparse hair common to Elvarri or Orcs, but with the complement of large horns on either side of the head. The size and shapes of these horns can vary wildly, although family lines tend to have similar horns. Skin and hair colors of the Saltarii seem to come in every bright hue, from deep red to a brilliant green to even purple or a near-fluorescent pink. Beyond all this, the most striking feature of the Saltarii is their eyes; the color of each person’s eyes is not constant, but ranges through an impressive series of colors unique to each individual. One may flash red irises when angry and blue when sad, while another will have blue eyes when upset and green when despondent. Knowing a Saltarri’s colors and matching emotions is recognized as a sign of a deeply treasured friendship to their kind.

History:

The Saltarri have only been a part of the community for a couple of centuries, allegedly having been approached by the gods at the start of the age. While most races at least partially resisted assimilation, the Saltarri were a single community wrestling with the previous failures of their previous pantheon of gods when approached by the machine gods. Having gods they could see and touch had a profound effect on the highly religious Saltarii, and they are said to have given their allegiance and accepted resettlement in a mere matter of months, wholly and completely.

Culture:

Saltarii culture revolves around worship of the gods, discussion of theology, and the pursuit of virtue. This is so ingrained in Saltarii culture that most will discard thier original names and take the name of a virtue upon reaching adulthood. This means that a Saltarii community will often refer to each other by such names as Purity, Chastity, Community, and Grace. Saltarii are not a war-like race and often reject conflict, but more than a few champions have come from their ranks. These range from traditional members like Justice of Korlingor to less respected ones like the infamous Rage of Jitten.
