Jungle Rot

Summary

The Jungle Rot (called the Jungle Blessing by Macken's faithful), is an effect when Macken, the jungle lord extends his blessing to a natural creature. It is a combination of two effects - the Jungle moss that provides a connection to the creature's surroundings and magic, and the jungle fungus that provides control over the creature.

Physical Signs

The Rot starts as a creeping moss that spreads from the point of impact. Rashes and swelling may occur as the fungil growth starts beneath the skin or carapace where the infection has taken place. As the moss spreads, the fungus will attempt to break through the skin to connect more fully with the moss.

Within a couple weeks, the death of the host and the needs of the jungle rot for fuel will start the decay of their flesh. This is a slow decay, but even so the decay will continue throughout the short existence of the victim.

Cure

There is only really two cures for the Jungle Rot. The first, as in most conditions, is a blessing from an opposing god. The second is to remove an infected limb or flesh before the fungus can spread. Attempts have been made to surgically remove the fungus, but even the smallest piece or spore resumes the infection.
