A civil war over the Triforce. AKA Interloper War

Hyrule fell into a period of great civil war as people fought to find and obtain the Triforce. Shinzo brought the civil war to an end when he assassinated the queen, exiled the King, and took captive the princess of Hyrule. Shinzo united Hyrule, but then was exiled by the gods for using the Triforce in unintended ways.   The original king and princess took their place on the throne. However, there was only a lull in the civil war when the Calamity came about. The civil war proceeded again afterwards due to the royal family's poor decisions.
