Ikana Quarry
Ikana Canyon was once a wasteland cursed into undeath. It is where the ancient civilization of Ikana once lived and is the location of the Stone Tower Temple from Majora's Mask. The canyon itself is a quarry for time shift stones, which the Garo (neighboring kingdom of ninja) fought continuously over against Ikana.
Elegy of Emptiness can be found here.
Purpose / Function
The quarry was Ikana's dig site for Time Shift Stones, which Ikana used in their magic and hexing rituals.
Design
The Quarry is full of mushroom that can be cut down, but they quickly decay and grow back.
Entries
One must use the elevator to descend into the canyon.
Contents & Furnishings
In the first room, there is a stone with an inscription:
A single rose may provide a path of opportunity, but unity and solidarity will unlock the heart.
There is one statue of the Demon of Desire
A large beast with heart shaped chest and heavy armor.
On the plaque:
“The demon of the wastes, Majora”
Grants any desire to those who find it.
- DC 13 Civ, Sheikah: Faintly carved below the plaque in ancient Shiekah “Slain for devouring the desires of all who approached it, here lies the tragic beast’s remains – Asteria”
- DC 16 Civ, Sheikah (Crude Scribbles): "DEVOURED LIVES DEVOURED DEATH DEATH DEATH CURSED CURSED CURSED DEATH"
- DC 10 Civ: There are knights and ninja trying to grab bags of glowing gems despite the battle raging on. It appears there was a terrible war over the gems.
- DC 16 Arcana: In the upper corner of the image, there are some knights performing a ritual in a temple atop the canyon. They are using the gems for some kind of hex.
- DC (16) Civ: The armor of the knight is of Hylian make, and is very different in design than that of Ikana.
- DC 7 Insight: In the image of the king ordering people, the people have deranged expressions and puppet strings. They may have gone mad or been possessed.
- DC 16 Civ: In the image of the King receiving the mask and the Ninjas watching, there are carts of the gems being taken away by the Ninja. It seems the mask was in exchange for peace and reception of the gems.
- DC 10 Skeikah Scribbles: It never stops. Nothing stops.
- DC 4 Arcana: The Runes are too damaged to really read. The exception is one rune: "Here", which is extending over the entire magical seal, blackened and smoldering. This one rune looks like the runes you saw on previous broken seals.
- DC 13 Arcana: The runes are extremely damaged, but they seem to be forming a weak seal that drew some strength from an external power source. The runes are standard runes, and are not anything particularly special.
- DC 16 Arcana: The runes are forming a poor seal. These runes are standard runes, but you're noticing some patterns in them that is akin to Fairy magic. In fact, you can see in the seal a place that the creator tried to rub out "Rupees" (a common power source for fairy magic) and overwrote it with "Spirit".

Hazards & Traps
There is much mire in the Canyon and Quarry.
Alterations
Over time, the Quarry has been abandoned. After the Child Hero lifted the curse of undeath on Ikana Canyon, the place became overrun by the mycelial blooms of the neighboring Southern Swamps. Now, it is overrun by mushrooms and is sinking into mire.
Architecture
The building was made mostly of stone and has multiple statues and murals throughout.
Defenses
The Quarry is at the bottom of a canyon and is very difficult to get to. In the past, the Castle of Ikana would have guarded it. Today, a myriad of mushrooms and mire make it difficult to get to at all.
History
The quarry was made by Ikana Kingdom's search for Time Shift Stones to use in their hexing rituals in Stone Tower Temple. However, the Garo also sought after the stones which Ikana had a monopoly of. As such, the Garo were at constant war with Ikana over the gems.
Asteria came to Ikana Kingdom with the intent of ending their war. She sought an alternative power source for Ikana to use, and she found it by making Majora's Mask out of the heart of a Demon of Desire. She gave this mask to the king of Ikana on behalf of the Garo, and in exchange, the Garo were to get some of the stones. The king agreed and there was peace for a short while.
The mask, however, was continuously used in dark rituals, and eventually it became full of such evil that it possessed the people of Ikana. Asteria had to ask the Garo to help her get the mask back, which resulted in another war. This war ended in utter annihilation for both parties. The kingdom of Ikana was cursed by the dead into a state of undeath, the lingering spirits still engaged in war against each other.
The Child Hero lifted the curse of undeath, though, which allowed life to continue in the Canyon once more. The mycelial blooms of the Southern Swamp quickly rooted in the Canyon, and mire flowed throughout. However, the timeshift stones had an unforeseen side effect, the Canyon was somehow both sped up and slowed down. Living things died, decayed, and grew back in a matter of moments, and yet, these living things rarely died unless acted upon by an outside force.
Asteria continues to guard Ikana Canyon. She doesn't want to see another war break out over the stones, so she deters those who come too close... at least, that was her motive before time spent as a ghost drove her into insanity.
Tourism
Few ever make it to the Quarry. The Canyon is full of hallucinogenic mushrooms that confuse those who attempt to get deeper in, and mire will drown anyone who doesn't watch their step.
