Demeter's Center for Biological Advances

Welcome to Demeter's!

We are one of the leading educators in the field of biology in the world. Our work points towards a better future for all of us, and you can join our cause!

Demeter's Center for Biological Advances is a scientific institute as well as a university. It was founded in the 1800s, but held a low profile until the early years of the Divergence where it became one of the big name organisations actively working in reversing climate change. Today it is a government funded educational and research establishment especially focused on agriculture, and a known place in touch with nature.

From a seed we all grow, and care for our sisters in earth.

Meet the scientists, students and staff

We are many who call Demeter's our second home; we are a hugely diverse group of people from all over the globe! Here are a few short interviews from some of our personnel.

Evi Elitza

Hi! Could you introduce yourself to our audience?
-Yes, of course! Hi, I'm Evi Elitza, working here with researching plant resilience. I love working with plants, though I feel a bit bad putting these greens through so much stress. My garden at home luckily doesn't get the same rigorous experimentation. Sometimes though, I just can't restrain myself and must try a new experimental technique! It usually doesn't work very well, but it often inspires me with new ideas for my work here!

Linda Olsson

Hi Linda! Could you tell us who you are and what you do here?
-Hello, my name is Linda Olsson. I am a lead scientist working with soil.

Anything else you would like to share? Maybe why you chose this institute above any other?
-Well, it was a quite easy choice as my husband already was a professor in the school, and he put in a good word for me among the scientists. It is a prestigious university, and I wished for a place here as well. I am highly educated and have a lot of research to do for the world, so I needed somewhere to put the work in action. Now if you could please finish this interview so I can go back to my work.

Joan Aref

Hello Joan! What do you do here at Demeter's?
-Wouldn't you like to know? It's a secret.

Please, Joan. Our audience would love to know, and your work is funded by the state, so there are no secrets. You know that!
-I'm just kidding! Yeez, do you not have any fun here? Anyway, I'm Joan Aref and I'm a professional tree hugger! Kinda. I research trees and I am in close contact with landscape architects as an adviser. And I do hug trees in my spare time. You guys should try it sometime, it has a calming effect!

Well, that was a couple of faces you can meet here at the institute! We hope that you are as excited as we are to be here. See you next time!
