The great War of Displacement As the forgotten realms were being lost to the darkness consuming everyone and everything in it, war was being waged amongst the beings still living. In an effort to save as many lives as they could, a group of brave adventurers, once seen as heroes of the realms, fought against the darkness.
About ten years prior to the displacement of the realms, a darkness had slowly started enveloping the lands and people of the Forgotten Realms. Small and unnoticable at first, the calamity from the darkness began to over take the lands and destroying the very enviroment.
Word of the darkness traced back to times long before the war, though no one is quite sure when it first appeared. The darkness was all consuming and once it was ready to leave a mark... a mark it left. The land was scarred by the destruction and the people even more so.
During the chaos, a war was being waged amongst the beings still living. People were fighting eachother out of fear and desperation, but it ended in only more death.
In an effort to save as many lives as they could, a group of brave adventurers, once seen as heroes of the realms, fought against the darkness. They fought with the skills they had, but it wasn't enough. Time after time, the heroes failed to defeat the darkness.
The war waged on for many years and many lives were lost, but the survivors could not give up. Giving up meant only death. The numbers were swiftly dwindled down to the elderly and the young. Children, parents, siblings... They were all lost in battles against each other and the darkness.
With harder times came greater fears. Soon, races who normally feuded stood together. Enemies became allies. The old held no will to fight. The young, no reason or understanding.
As the darkness seeped in deeper, the remaining lives dwindling, the heroes of the realms knew there was only one thing left to be done.
They had to find a way, with enough power, to take the survivors far from the forgotten realms.
Gathering all the strength and magic they could, the group banned together with everything they had and all the knowledge they held to open a tear in the very fabric of the universe.
In doing so, they opened a doorway to a new world spanning an unknown dimension. The survivors amassed and entered this new world with fear and hope filling them anew.
