The Age of Heroes Begins

475 BG

A generation of powerful individuals emerges - Known in ancient records as explorers, peacekeepers, and scholars. They were revered in their time, but in Glacithae, centuries later, these so-called "heroes" are viewed with suspicion, disdain, and in some circles, outright hatred.
Modern belief holds that their arrogance, unchecked power, and meddling in cosmic forces led directly to the War of Displacement and the spreading of the Darkness.

In their own time, these figures sought unity across nations, formed magical and diplomatic alliances, and pushed boundaries of known magic and science.
They created powerful artifacts, experimented with Rift magic, and conducted forbidden research on the fundamental threads of reality.
While intended as acts of preservation or enlightenment, these deeds are now seen as reckless tampering with forces they did not understand.

Historical Reframing in Glacithae

Official histories in Glacithae often brand them as the "Harbringers of Ruin."
Monuments and old tomes describing their noble intentions were destroyed, rewritten, lost, or hidden.
Entire schools of magic and philosophy trace their decline to the backlash against what these individuals once represented.

Legacy

The Riftwatchers and Wardens of Ash still study their actions and artifacts - some in hopes of restoring their names, others to understand and prevent history from repeating.
The faction led by Westra actively seeks out the descendants of these heroes, believing that though the past is tainted, the future may yet be shaped differently.
Rumors of a surviving hero, driven mad by guilt or loss, circulate among travelers - some believe this figure guards the last remnants of forbidden truth.
