Izrak

Izrak (Low Planar: *ዒሰረከ, *īsrak [ˈʔiːsɾɐk], Fridian: ↃԽRΛ, ꜣzrk [iːzrak]) is a planar entity, probably a yau, generally associated with Yagulan (Escherus). Izrak frequently deals with mortals, offering knowledge and magical power in exchange for their knowledge and service. It is generally thought of as malevolent towards mortals, but is generally less so towards those who serve it than many other yau. Its motivations, like most planar entities, are poorly understood, but it is generally thought it seeks knowledge and experience, and that it also revels in change and chaos. Izrak has been known to request material sacrifices from its servitors, but requests materials for study. There has been one alleged incident of Izrak requesting a sacrifice of flesh from a servitor, but it will often request the memories and experiences of those who serve it. Izrak also has not been recorded to have entered the material plane.  

History

It is unknown how long Izrak has been active in the mortal sphere. Izrak noteably appears on record in a 13^th century Fridian work called the Vars Coetha that recorded various planar entities, though it is thought it has been active since well before this. The Vars Coetha only survives in fragments, and little is recorded of Izrak other than a name (given as "ᴐ̀ƕꝛ̗ɻ" in late Fridian cursive (ↃԽRΛ), īzrak, in Fridian) and physical description. The name alone would not be enough to definitively link it to Izrak, but Izrak's appearance has been very consistent across time, and the description matches that of Izrak: it appears as a lion's head with five goat-like legs surrounding the head radially. Its scale varies, but as it does not enter the material plane, its perceived differences scale could be a matter of perspective.
