Blackrock Saurian

Blackrock Saurian was a language used by saurians in the region of Blackrock.   Descended from Old Blackrock, spoken during the dracates, it since merged the pharyngeal consonants into the plain consonants, however, they are still phonologically distinguished from their plain counterparts, as in non-terminal positions, the vowel following the previously pharyngealised consonant will be fronted and glottalised (creaky voice), as in /a/ to /æ̰/ or /ə/ to /ḛ/. In final positions, most accents retract alveolar consonants except for /ɾ/, except in cases where it was previously pharyngealised. As /ɽ/ is still maintained as the fortis rhotic consonant, final /kˤ/ is the only case in which the distinction has been lost. The pharyngeal ejective, /ʡʼ/, became something like a uvular ejective, /qʼ/.   Blackrock Saurian was the only known saurian language with its own indigenous writing system. The Blackrock script is a pure alphabet, also unique for its region of the world, where nearby scripts were logographic (Then characters) or abuguidas (Davanian scripts). There is debate as to whether the Blackrock script was derived from or influenced by early Davanian scripts. Those who support the theory also generally subscribe to the Davanian coastal migration theory, which would place the proto-Davanian peoples in the region of Blackrock, though likely in a pre-literate stage, complicating the idea that they shared their writing system with the native saurians at this time. Most scholars agree on a Nenian origin for the Davanian scripts, the Nenians being exposed to the Sakhat script during their southern migration to the Nenayas, which developed into the Proto-Nenian script before radiating and being adopted by the neighbouring Davanians to their south.
