Honoring the Dead

Within the world of Gerra different regions honor the dead in different ways.

Malbin

Within Malbin people treat death as a natural part of the cycle. This is in part due to their believe in Viridian, but also because they believe that when a person truly dies, they are reborn as a spirit within the spirit realm. Because of this, most Malbinians don't pursue or use resurrection magic, believing at if they die it was because the earth mother has called them back into her embrace.

The Iron Kingdom

Within the Iron Kingdom its citizens consider death to be the end of their life. Whenever a citizen dies, they can choose to remain under the service of their king or wait until the black moon and accept their true end. It is rare for a person to be resurrected within the kingdom because of its 0% crime rate and next to no accidents happen. If some huge disaster were to occur that resulted in a major loss of life than the people would mourn and leave it up to their king if the lost are recovered.

The Confederation of Progress

Each of the Islands treat the dead in different ways based on their principles. The island of Medicine treats the dead as corpses read to be used for study and autopsy. The island of Gold sees the dead as a way to make more money; Those without insurance can have their gems harvested and their bodies sold to the island of medicine, and those with it can be buried according to their wishes. The island of Tech sends their deceased out to sea, buries them, or treats them like the island of gold. The island of Ethics buries their dead or sends them out to sea.

The Great Desert

Because of the lack of a true nation within the Great Desert traditions for the dead typically vary from town to town or city to city. Generally speaking, however, Sand Wraiths and those that worship the Desert Queen see your final death as you returning to the cycle. Anytime a person dies but is brought back before the black moon they haven't been considered to have their true death. If A person is claimed during the black moon however, than they have experienced their true death.

Kingdom

Subjects under King Vanlar believe that the dead should be buried.

Empiria

Within Empiria your treatment after death is determined by how you died. If you went out with a glorious ending or had a high status than you are eligible for resurrection. Those that died pathetically, had a low ranking, or didn't achieve much in life are considered truly dead when they die, and aren't even considered for resurrection.

The Land of Dragons

These savage lands have no cities or true form of government to call their own. As such how the dead are treated vary from tribe to tribe. That being said however, almost every tribe offers their dead to dragons or consume the dead themselves. They do this because they believe that when a person dies by consuming their flesh, they can gain a portion of their strength.
