first contact with the matsya
in the middle of the day on the 22nd of september 1972 a large ship materializes over a small villiage in india. the vessel later named matsya, landed silently in the small villiage and greeted by the locals, who reacted with considerable fear. by the time the british authorities have heard the news the vessel has opened and within a single creature has emerged from the vessel and adresseed the locals in a foreign tongue creating a bit of a panic.
with the aid of a civilian telepath rushed from mumbai (a small time nationalist rebel named aarush parekh, aka "mindmeld" who was arrested only an hour earlier, and promised parole for his assistance) the secrets of the vessel were revealed.
manu (a name later given by the locals) was the caretaker of the arc, a vessel containing the remaining DNA material and legacy of his galactic coalition. hundreds of alien races driven to extinction by centuries of war against an ancient voracious enemy they have escaped using an experimental (and now defunct) warp engine to the solar system and found earth. they now wish to reestablish their races, asking for the earth's hospitality.
Aarush was left to be Manu's translator for the none telepathic, as Manu possesed no mouth or understanding of vocal communication, Manu told Aarush his tales, and Aarush told Manu of his and the earth's, hindu and the still colonized india...
siezing the opportunity of their singular connection Aarush used his connection to Manu to leverage his assistance to release india from british colonization, in exchange the ark became open to those willing to study their histories. a human would be imbued with the DNA of one of the races, as well as given custodi over an Atman, the soul of one of the federation's ambassadors to imbue him with the history and legacy of the dead races of the coalition. the first to go through that process was Aarush himself, creating the Xenolineage of the keepers (dikpalis).
from these genetic fusions sprung many bloodlines who brought some hope to some of the coalition's people for a certain form of survival, some took their jobs very seriously, allowing the legacy of these dead people's a new life on earth, while others took the powers ungratefully, and eschewed their connections to the Atmans and the legacy of the coalition.
in modern times, anyone may apply to recieve an Atman, however, a test of character is admisioned, as Manu and his human speakers have grown warry of those who'd use their gifts selfishly, and after loosing friends in the form of forgotten or destroyed Atmans, they have become less welcoming then before.
