Elections for the merlinian high council
While the original merlinian council was not elected in a democratic process, instead being comprised from merlin and a select number of his pupils, after the dissipation of the mutespell the order and camelot found themselves leaderless.
Flung into the modern world and with merlin and most of his inner circle dead due to the mutespell's casting the order fell into disarray. while merlin made clear his intentions of having Miranda De Lochsucceed him upon his death, the apprentice's young age and lack of leadership experiance made many doubt her qualifications to lead the council.
Taking inspiration from the new world, miranda and her detractors came to agree upon an election process for the high council, while going through a few modifications the system remained largely the same to it's modern incarnation.
In it's modern incarnation the council is compromised of 5 roles, all occupied by elected archmagi,
Prime Merlinian- Leader and head of state of camelot
Supreme Magus Securitas - Responsible of the capture and imprisonment of dangerous magical entities and the leadeship of the magi errants, a role originaly reserved for the Magus Cognitum but co opted by Gottfried Von Everec in 1997.
Supreme Magus Cognitum- Responsible for tracking effots and inteligence gathering used by magus errants hunting potential magical threats
Supreme Magus Castellum- Responsible for the maintainance of the castle and it's security
Supreme Magus Arcanum- Responsible for the arcane research and teaching of students in the castle's school.
History
During the first election, Miranda De Loch was elected prime merlinian, alongside her the first council in the modern age consisted of Supreme magus Cognitum Duke Charles Porter II (father of the current Supreme magus Cognitum), Supreme magus Securitas Isolde Von Everec and Supreme magus Castelum Baleron De Savage.
Two years after the resurgance, the council disbanded once more when Supreme Magus Castellum miranda de loch initiated a declaration of distrust in Prime merlinian porter after his refusal to open the teachings of merlin to the modern world, in a contentious election Miranda eventually retook the seat of Prime merlinian, establishing the 5th seat of the council, the Supreme Magus Arcanum to oversee the creation of the open school of magic in 1993. The new council that emerged from this controversial desicion was comprised of Jane De La Croix as SM Castellum, Gotfried Von Everec as SM securitas, Charles porter the II returning to his role of SM cognitum, and Abanazar El Nisir as the first SM Arcanum
The second council - 1991
The first council remained unchanged until the morganian resurgance in 1991, during which the political upheaval and the death of Baleron De Savage, lead to the second full reestablishment of the council. In this second incarnation, Duke porter the II took the seat of prime merlinian, with Isolde Von Everec being replaced by her son, Gotfried Von Everec, after being deemed too antiquated for the requirements of adapting to the modern world and threats. The SM Castellum office was filled by Jane De La Croix and Miranda took the role of Supreme Magus cognitum.The third council - 1993

The 4th council - 2003
With the untimely passing of Abanazar El Nisir of bowel cancer complications, Prime Merlinian Miranda Deloch took a bold step of trying to introduce yukiko musashi as his replacement. While the young yukiko (22 at the time) held a reputation of a great scholar, her political views as a supervisionist had earned her the ire of traditionalists. The election was called by Duke porter who opposed the appointment, the elections were a landslide victory for Prime merlinian miranda, who kept her seat, got to appoint yukiko and saw her political rivals of decades not recieve a seat on the council, with his rebellious son replacing him. this 4th incarnation had held to this day and is comprised of Miranda De Loch as Prime merlinian, Jane De La Croix as SM Castellum, Gotfried Von Everec as SM securitas, Duke Charles Porter III as SM Cognitum and Yukiko Musashi as SM Arcanum.Elections for the 5th Merlinian high council
On august 24th 2010, Supreme Magus Gotfried Von Everac has called for a decleration of no confidance in Prime Merlinian Miranda De Loch, due to allegations of mistreatment of the rising morganian crisis, inaction against dangerous foes who risk merlin's legacy and camelot's existance from within and without. thus with the support of SM Castellum Jane De La Croix the council disbanded. with the turmoil of the times, the 5th elections had already seen a record number of canidates put themselves forth, with both Reform Supervisionists and more extreme Containmentists then ever running for positions of power, the elections, set to take place within a month's time of the announcement are set to determin camelot's future for years to come.Execution
The council can declare state of mistrust against the head merlinian, on a majority of 4 to 1 a general election is declared, otherwise the council's terms are not limited.
During an election,each allaigable voter may cast a vote for up to three canidates who will present themselves for the roles of the council, those with the 5 canidates with the highest number of votes filling the council, choosing seats by order of popularity.

The election has been run using relatively modern technologies, originaly procured from the municipality offices of london.
Participants
A person is allowed to participate as a voter if they answer all prerequisites set forth.
They must be 13 years of age
Have to be either a citizen of camelot, or a student who has completed their studies and has given at least 1 year's service as a mage errant (or equivelant)
Must have no criminal records, either within camelot or the UK.
Allegible canidates for the current elections have to be22 years of age (mental)
Citizens of camelot for at least 5 years.
Have completed training to be a mage errant or equivelant.
