Sørsk
In spoilers below you will find details for character creation.
Ethnic Abilities - Sørsk
When designing a character, a player chooses positive and negative ethnic abilities of equal value. Custom suggestions are possible upon approval by the GM. Mixed ethnicity abilities can be custom designed as well.
Since all characters are human, you are always Adaptable: Humans begin play with any Novice Edge of their choosing. They must meer its Requirements as usual.
Typical Sørsk characteristics are:
Resilient (2): The Sørsk are stout and tough. They start with a d6 Vigor instead of a d4. This increases maximum Vigor to d12+1.
Hardy (2): Sørsk people are used to tough conditions. A second shaken result in combat does not cause a wound.
Winter Warriors (1): Sørsk people live their ordinary lives even through the toughest of winters. You receive a +4 bonus to resist the negative effects of cold. Damage from cold sources is also reduced by 4.
Tall (1): The Sørsk stand taller than your average Aldion people. Their Size (and therefore Toughness) is increased by +1. Maximum Strength is increased one step. You may have difficulty in some other nations finding stock items suitable for people of your size (like clothing).
Hunter's Instincts (1): Sørsk grow up learning to hunt for prey and notice threats in the wild. You start with a d6 for your Notice trait instead of a d4.
Slow and Steady (-1): A Sørsk hunter or warrior moves deliberately rather than fast. Reduce your pace by 1 and your running die a die type.
Peaceful Nature (-1): As tradition dictates the Sørsk value diplomacy over conflict. You gain the Pacifict (minor) Hindrance. You only fight when given no other choice and never allow killing of prisoners or other defenseless victims.
Summer Stroke (-1): The sun only pleases a Sørsk person when the earth is covered in snow. You suffer a -4 bonus to resist the negative effects of heat. Damage from heat sources add an extra 4 damage.
Long Shot (-1): A Sørsk warrior prefers seeing his enemy through the scope of a rifle, rather than face to face in melee combat. You suffer a -1 to your Parry.
By Foot or Sled (-1): Due to the mountainous terrain and harsh winters, Sørsk people travel by foot or sled, not by horse. You suffer a -1 penalty to all Riding rolls.
