The Druidic Court
Rebel group that overtook the Twin Courts. Overseen by Temperance and Gentry Who Still Needs A Cool Name And/Or Title.
But yeah- as for those who take a sip, I give them the following instructions: to observe nature, to understand the plants and animals, to understand the balance and care that all life lives in. Within this grove, I allow anyone who meditates or focuses on an animal or plant they have observed to glimpse a small bit of their life and existence. Those who have such a revelation, Temperance visits upon them a bit of Druidic- a shared language compatible with both courts, a code of sorts that I can use to give words to things like the Nitrogen cycle or Phosphorus cycle (all encoded in mysticism)
Those who master this language and work hard to understand their biomes can, on any day of the Spring, undergo the Test of Understanding: an opportunity to, while meditating or sleeping under the tree, to basically jump between bodies a bunch between plants and animals. If they have the understanding to accept these forms and the willpower to not lose themselves, they return to their bodies with druid powers.
These Groves produce random numbers of Dire Animals (giant, just real big- scorpions bigger than Great Danes, wolves bigger than horses sort of thing) who are sustained despite their greater need for food by the Grove. They are naturally less hostile to druids of that grove and protective of the grove itself. The more often the Grove is attacked, the more Dire Animals it creates. If a dire animal is taken from the grove, its hunger and needs increase to make up for its larger size.
Spirit of Temperance, which descends down on wings that are themselves composed of many smaller wings, and whose eyes are mirrors of absolute tranquility. I reach out to their minds, and ask them if they would be willing to learn, to die, and above all to live to keep the land and its occupants healthy. Those who wish to leave, may- but those who will become my students, drink deep from my spirit.
I then produce a goblet carved from primordial stone, and from it I pour water into the earth, which reaches up to catch it in a basin. The water in this is always pure- no poison stays here, and you cannot become sick from it or the basin.
Those who drink, form a connection with this grove and this place. While the Spirit of Temperance fades into a tree (which becomes massive), they may continue learning from it through dreaming or meditation while in the grove.
