Rune Snail

Coastal - Uncommon they are very useful in translating languages! an empty shell of one of these guys is now a component (reuseable/not consumed) for Tounges and Compehend Languages.   they can also be used like a scroll of either spell, but that kills the snail and consumes the shell and is pretty mean ):   they can become longer term communication tools! the runes initially on their shell are unique to the species and don't represent any known languages. but if you take the time to raise them around other spoken languages (like in a little fish tank) they will develop new markings in the language they are absorbing! the text is meaningless phrases (like lorem ipsum), but multiple snails of differing languages can be used basicallly like a rosetta stone!!   they can take on multiple languages, but keeping them alive long enough to do so is somewhat of an investment.   if multiple languages are spoken around them in one sort of growth cycle, it comes out as a funky mix that, while cool, is not very useful for translation purposes.   So, a snail shell with multiple useable languages is somewhat a status symbol for those who have enough cross-language connections to make such a thing (interestingly as common for dignitaries as travelling entertainers).   snails raised in captivity will still have the runes initially, as their little baby snail ears are too weak to hear language yet.(edited)   also any of this species can be used as component, no need to train them first.
