The Gates of Aldarr

The Gates of Aldaar
The Story begins with the death of King Tiago of Aldaar. Having failed to father a child with his legitimate wife, there was no apparent heir. Being asked on his deathbed who succession will pass to, Tiago replied "to the worthy." Soon Aldaar was in a state of Anarchy. Seeing their chance to grab power for themselves three factions emerged each headed by one of the late King Tiago's Bastards. First among them was Palo, having spent most of his youth in the cities pubs, arenas and theatres, sometimes even with his own performance. He is beloved by the people and certainly knows his way around social dynamics and interactions. Manipulating other to do his bidding is his strong suit, if he can't beat an enemy he can surely win him over. Second among them Vitor having been fathered by King Tiago in an infamous affair with the Abbess of Osteiro Cana, he was soon adopted by the Kings childhood friend Osar Count of Dalmalla. Though the Count adopted him as his own son, his true fatherlage was widely known and as soon as Tiago died Vitor made his move. Vitor, being raised as a noble, has undergone thorough training in Strategy, Statesmanship and was knighted by the King himself on account of winning the yearly Aldaar Tournament. Vitor has faced many challenges so far and has always shown the patience to take in the problem first and then methodically take it apart. His greatest weakness is that he fails to win over the hearts and minds of the people, being hindered not in small part by himself not only being a bastard but being a bastard of an Abbess that has never lived in Aldaar to begin with. Third amongst them is Bedor, Bedor is the son of Tiago's favourite concubine Talya. Since Talya was Tiago's favourite Concubine Bedor grew up at court and was widely consided to be the likely heir, many are still unsure why Tiago didn't explicitly name Bedor as heir in his last moments. Bedor does not shine through any of his own achievements, many would even consider him as an average boring person. True or not Bedor has the support of the late Kings advisors and the powerfull magistrates at court, not in small part because they see him as an easy to control puppet. Now that he has grown into a man many have noted that he is a man of exceptional beauty, and it is said that even the Queen of Lesaboca has considered to offer herself to him in marriage.
