The Collapse of Castle 5

The Collapse of Castle 5 is a reference to the disaster of the fallen tower of Castle 5 in Vauroda and the rebellion that ensued in 199 AG. It resulted in the proclamation of the Second Mining Republic and the exile of king Elias the Exalted.

Background

Elias the Exalted. had a reputation for pocketing large amounts of money from his people to spend it on extravagant parties. These parties would be held in grand castles, but the king would quickly grow bored of them. He would thus frequently order the construction of additional castles, despite the kingdom having monetary issues. As he could not come up with any more original names for all his new castles, he had resorted to simply numbering them instead. Thus, this castle would come to be known as Castle 5. The crowing piece of the castle would be the installment of a golden bell, named The Echoes of the Fallen. The king's advisors urged Elias the Exalted to not place the bell in one of the towers, as they believed the structure could not support its weight. During construction, many budget cuts were taken, and the stability of the castle towers was questionable. The king waved these concerns away, and insisted that the placement of the bell should be in the tower.
