Aldarr's hoard of wisdom; First public library in Garfarr

Foundation & History

Founded by Timago I of Aldarr, the Hall of Wisdom is a unique institution that seeks it's rivals in vain. Timago I, while not a scholar himself, understood the value of fostering knowledge for his kingship and the well being of his subjects. Adhering to his advisors, Timago I repurposed Aldarr's city hall and turned it into a public library, something even unknown during the empires time. The Library has had a positive track record to this day inspiring some of Aldarr's greatest minds and attracting scholars from far away lands seeking work and generous royal stipends.

Current day

The library is currently headed by Tyal "the astute", a scholar from overseas invested in the prestigeous position by Tiago II of Aldarr, on Kladon of Orai's advice, himself. Tyal has overseen the restructuring of the librarys order system and bookkeeping, making it radically easier to find many works and keep track of their state of decay, saving much money on maintenance. Tyal "the astute", the thorn elve that he is, has been very interested in dream guiding and all things mind and performance enhancing drugs, brewing not few potions for himself and the staff of the library.

Rules & Organization

List of offices

Head Librarian, takes care of acquisition of books and the hiring of new scholars and librarians
Librarian, takes care of day to day business and maintenance of all works stored in the library
Scholars, in charge of adding their own works to the library and tasked with studying the libraries works
Guards, making sure the libraries works are safe from without and within
Servants, cleaning, cooking, logistics, these are the tasks of the libraries servants

The Libraries rules

All works stored within the library cannot be takes anywhere outside of it
No food in the study rooms, food is resigned to the mensa
All noise is to be kept to a minimum and talking is completely banned inside the study rooms
All works are to be returned to the Librarians, not to their original whereabouts
Respectfull conduct is required of all visitors, the library maintains it's right to ban any visitors permanently from the premises if disregarded

Timago I choose the town hall to convert Aldarr's greatest republican symbol into a royalist one.

Interesting

Tiago II's fascination of the Garfarrian empire developed out of many hours spent inside the Hall of Wisdom with Kladon of Orai, his childhood tutor. Tiago II became the libraries greatest tutor after Timago I himself.
