The Night Beast

The Night Beasts are thin yet strangely powerful and fast. Pack animals by nature they wander the deserts of Garn in large numbers; they fear the light of the sun and thus the name Night Beasts.  

Physiology

The Night Beasts are quadrupedal creatures the are 5ft tall at the shoulder, and well over 7ft while standing on hind legs. Despite being quadrupedal, the creatures commonly stand on their hind legs. The creatures are immensely thin and appear frail and weak, but the opposite is true, in fact the creatures are impossibly strong and fast, capable of ripping apart buildings with little effort.   Dissecting the creatures show that their anatomy is unlike any other creature in Garn. They contain 3 separate hearts and two pairs of lungs. Their skin acts as armor plating; their blood is highly toxic if ingested.      

Hierarchy

Despite their strangeness, the Night Beasts are still creatures that follow a lion pride like hierarchy. Alphas are the only ones that have wings and seem to be drastically more intelligent, capable of speech and control over other Night Beasts. Meanwhile the females are all the Betas and are always protected and honored within the hierarchy, but still now to the Alphas.   Night Beasts travel in large packs of 20-100+, they wander Garn in seemingly random directions during the night, and bury themselves beneath the sands by the time dawn comes.    

History

No one knows where the Night Beasts first came from, but scholars have a working theory that they came from underground, from a place called The Underdark. Besides that, we know that Night Beasts showed up one day, called The Fall.
