Sword Coast (sôrd kōst)

Sword Coast is the fastest growing city in the Forged Lands. What started as a crossroads town boomed into a great trade city where all are welcome. It is the largest free-state city in the area. Whether returning from the north or the seas, Sword Coast was the place to sell your wares, rest before your next adventure, or rise through the ranks in the Coliseum. It is becoming a great place for new business, with little to no oversight. Sword Coast is known for being the best place for fast work, leaning more on the dangerous side.

Demographics

49% Humans, 21% Dwarfs, 10% Elves, 7% Gnomes, 13% other races.

Government

Gradim Clanthorn (human) Mayor of the city, along with the wealthy, non-competitive businesses operating as an unofficial council. Clanthorn is the elected mayor, he also owns three of the largest businesses in the city. The Bitter Pelican, Above the Rest Inn, and biggest money maker, the Crimson Coliseum. Gradim is the 2nd Clanthorn to run this city, after his father Satoz who died in office. Local Sword's Guard are often tipped by businesses to pay particular attention to their safety, or to pry into the affairs of competitors. This culture concerns of bribery has caused Sword Coast's Guards to neglect the concerns of their city's underclass in favor of lining their pockets with "tips" from merchants.

Defences

Sword's Guard protect the city and keep the peace. Criminals are also put into the Coliseum if their crimes are severe enough. The Adventurer's Guild is home here, so they too offer protection. Visible, violent, and unbecoming criminal activity is swiftly quelled to avoid tarnishing the reputation of the fair city. However quiet lawbreaking occurs within back rooms of businesses and mansions of the upper class. A number of powerful local businesses have fallen in with the Thieves Guild to unseat their competitors, and though few are aware of it, Sword Coast is now nearly as corrupt as DryBurn.

Most goods and services can be found here. As well as various kinds of rare, exotic, and dangerous supplies from travelers from all around the world.
