Thoruun Rockhide

military leader from the Bilden Mine   Thoruun Rockhide’s boots strike granite as though he walks on bedrock itself. His beard is braided in iron-rings, and his cloak is a swatch of deep charcoal, flecked with sparks from his forge-trials. The skin of his forearms bears the pallor of tunnel-dust and embers, each scar a memory of cave-walls collapsing, ore veins splitting, stubborn rock giving way at last.   He hails from a mountain hold where dwarves carve halls into living stone, and his epithet “Rockhide” is earned—when a falling boulder caught him unawares, he shrugged it off, breathing a laugh that echoed in the chamber like a hammer-strike. Since then, he walks with a metal brace on his shoulder, but still he strides first into breach or tunnel.   In his hand he grips a war-hammer named Stonewhisper, its head mined from the deepest vein his clan dared reach. He does not speak much, but when he does, his voice rumbles like the drift of a mountain avalanche. He leads his kin not by title but by example—when trolls invade the emptier mines, when surface-lords demand tribute, Thoruun responds.   He believes the rock gives more than metal—it gives roots, legacy, and endurance. And if any foe thinks to pinch a dwarven hold or mock its craftsmanship, they will find their armour cracked, their will bent, and their retreat marked by the trail of broken rock where Thoruun walked. In the deep corridors of the mountain, his name echoes: Rockhide. The one who would not yield.
