Tala
Tala slips across the moss-covered ridges of the Ivorian Heathlands like a shadow chased by moon-fog. Her skin is greenish mud-tone, smeared with charcoal from caught torches; she wears a necklace of broken teeth—less trophy, more warning. From beneath her hood, bright yellow eyes dart and linger on the flicker of a distant campfire.
She is not the Heap King, nor the war-lord who shouts commands. Tala is the healer: she follows the raid that begun before dawn, nurtures the fool who sprung the trap at dusk, she tends to the caravan of travellers that wakes to empty cargo and shattered wheels. She knows the tunnels of The Mound and the secret paths beneath the trees.
When the Heap King’s horns blast and the Horde charges, Tala trails behind to aid the trampled,
Pointy ears with stretchers.
