Synapse
The last remnant of the dead king of the dragons. An orb of glass-like finish with a swirling flame of black and white embers. As the scales of balance between Order and Chaos fluctuate in the world, the Synapse’s flame flickers towards black or white, depending on the blank chaos or the steadiness of order.
When Synapsid was killed at the end of the Third Era, his soul was transformed into the Synapse as it fell further in the deepest depths of the Firefang Jags and remained there until the current days in the Fifth Era.
The Dragon hunters who assisted with the slaying of Synapsid were called the Kingfishers, fire elves who were adept at battling the drakes. The Kingfishers went into hiding for centuries at the bottom of the Edge, their monestary hidden away from the growing nations of the realm.
In their sacred chambers they housed the last remant of their enemy, the Synapse of Balance. Slowly as the Pheoran elves performed their penitence for their criminals and tossed their guilty from the peak of the Edge, the highest mountain in the Jags, the current leader of the Kingfishers would save these people on the back of his phoenix Ryzen. Incinerin would invite these people to rise again like his fiery winged beast.
One such person was a woman pregnant, she died soon after being saved by the Kingfishers. Her daughter was born with features of an Ornir but different. Golden eyes and a mischievous tendency. Once Incinerin realized she was not infernal but cursed by draconic ritual, he locked the child Bedlam away. Here is where she heard whispers from the Synapse.
Bedlam broke free of the chain she was raised is and took the orb as it whispered to her. Here she walked through fire and ash, all the way to a coast she had never seen before, she boarded a boat and sailed towards the islands of Pacura. Here she met the Shatterbrand and a member of the adventuring party that the Synalse spoke of, a large blue Draken named Arygos.
The Synapse was carried alongside the Shatterbrand and their adventures. The team allied with the vagrant Eastking Addikus Windslayer when he came out of hiding. Thinking he was fighting alongside them to defend the Hedgespire, he revealed he had teamed up with the Kingfishers and the Mooncrest Marauders. Addikus used his family heirloom, the Dragonlance to destroy the Synapse.
Bedlam and Arygos worked together to recover the pieces and through many trials were able to reforge the orb, permenantly bonding chaos to Bedlam and Order to Arygos.
