Oakbeard

Oakbeard has been seen as the greatest mind amongst the Oakenthicket. He studies not only nature but yearns to understand emerging technologies created by elf or man. His stature is thin compared to many other Oakenfolk but compared to a man passing by he is still a forest giant. The patterns on his bark body swirl in mesmerizing patterns and his beard of moss and vine is kept neatly hedged.   Oakbeard is thousands of years old as are many of his kin. He grew with the same saplings for most of that time. A gift and a curse is that he will eventually outgrow them all because he was given the greatest of Treant bestowments.   In the year 5E, 187 of the gaulan calendar the 3500 year cycle renewed with the Conveyance of the Green. This is when five new leaders of the treants are decided by Kishar as the current five Cathedral Treants take their immortal rest within the Botanoran. Oakbeards best friend was the leader of their brood of Oakenfolk Elmgard, a dedicated and powerful guardian of the green. Hedgecrown, the current Protector of the Grove, clearly was mentoring Elmgard as his protege for centuries.   When the Conveyance completed, after an attempted disruption by an elven cult member, the transition began as four of the Cathedral grove giants finally laid to rest. The fifth was involved in the attack by the cult but was able to transfer its title just before it died. The green light travelled though grass blade and roots to move towards the Oakenfolk who earnestly looked on as a new era began amongst their kin. The light of Hedgecrown went under the feet of Elmgard and found its way to the roots of Oakbeard. The Tree Mother had unexpected intentions for her next Protector of the Grove.   This angered his friend who was the clear strongest treant. Oakbeard though was the best strategist and soundest mind amongst the Oakthicket and a mind might be better for the Green than brute force.
