Johann
Johann lives on the edges of the Aerie’s cliffs, a broad-shouldered friar whose presence fills whatever small cabin or shrine he steps into. He prefers quiet work—hauling timber, mending shelters, or tending to the injured rangers who trust him far more than any officer ever did. His voice is calm, almost too soft for a man of his size, and he avoids conflict with a stubborn, almost mulish patience.
That patience has limits. When cornered, Johann lifts the oaken paddle strapped to his back, a tool meant for river crossings that he swings with alarming efficiency. Stories among the rangers speak of bandits launched clean off ledges after pressing him too hard. The Church of Dhara calls him a deserter, but he claims he simply walked away from a war he no longer believed in. Out here, far from their reach, the Cardinalhood shelters him as both friar and fugitive. Johann is someone whose faith never dimmed, even when his loyalty to the crown did.
